FAQ: Plantopia: The Card Game
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

Will my area become a shipping-friendly zone?

Currently, we are trying to work out deals to get our games into the UK, EU and Australia. So if you are from those regions, please hang on and know that we’re trying our best to make shipping friendly for you. If you are from a different region, we suggest doing a group buy to help to reduce on shipping for now.

Is Plantopia based on a web-comic or video game?

Plantopia is part of the universe of Life of a Potato, which is a web comic that you should definitely check out. However, the inhabitants of Plantopia first found life in a card game, which is the game that you will receive and play if you back this project. So don’t worry that this is one of the games in which an IP is shoehorned into a game - it’s not. We would be proud to say that it is, but it is not.

Why a game about puns and plants?

In a perfect world, every plant and animal would have the ability to talk, sing, rhyme, joke, and even pun with each other. Alas, that is not to be. But we can make do by imagining and designing a game where they can.

I’m still worried about backing a project during a pandemic. As publishers, what are you doing to address possible complications resulting from Covid-19?

No country or region is immune from Covid-19. Having said that, all our operations take place in two of the most responsive countries in Asia, if not the world.

In Singapore, we experienced a circuit breaker (the equivalent of a lockdown), which lasted from April to June. We’re currently in the middle of Phase 2 out of 3 in reopening our industries. Tourism is not back to business as usual just yet but other sectors are well on their way to fully re-opening with appropriate precautions in place. Plantopia will be printed by a trusted partner in Taiwan, which has similarly responded, early and rapidly, to the coronavirus, and has successfully reopened much of its economy while keeping its curve flat.

We do not take this situation for granted and have factored in reasonable buffers into our production timeline to ensure that you receive your campaign reward in a timely way. In both countries, it has become the norm for regular updates on the impact of Covid-19 to be communicated daily and transparently. This is also how we will share pertinent information affecting our campaign as and when they emerge.

Google Covid-19 response in both Singapore and Taiwan to get a sense of how ready our systems and infrastructure are.

I’m a retailer/distributor. Should I back this or wait for retail?

If you are a retailer/distributor and you would like to stock Origame games, please contact us directly at [email protected] for our standardized rates.

However, if you would like the Garden City seed packs, the only way is to back the KS (we suggest the Best Buds Bundle!)

Who are your shipping partners?

We will be fulfilling deliveries through a combination of national carriers operating in Taiwan and Singapore, as well as several tried-and-tested logistics companies with international reach to ensure service reliability and affordability.

As mentioned, shipping will only be charged once during the campaign. You will not be asked to pay separately or additionally for shipping once this campaign is successfully closed and backed. We expect to commence deliveries on 1 Dec 2020, if not sooner.

Is this game only in English?

Plants are language-independent, and so is Plantopia. There is no text on the cards except for the puns (which admittedly is a big part of it). All you need to play Plantopia is a rulebook or video in your language.

We are finalizing a French and Spanish rulebook, and are working on a Chinese and Japanese one as well. So if you are a speaker of these languages, please look out for them in our updates!

Which stretch goals do I get with my copy of Plantopia?

ALL BACKERS will enjoy ALL STRETCH GOALS unlocked to their set of Plantopia at no extra charge! If the goal says ‘KS exclusive’, it will only be for KS backers and not included in the retail sets.

What will the card quality be like?

This is our first Kickstarter but our track record for our retail games are excellent. We are very proud of our manufacturing quality and anyone who has picked up a copy of Mooncake Master, Chope or Kopi King can tell you that the cards and tiles feel and look amazing, and the cards in Plantopia are going to be even nicer because of the stretch goals already unlocked. We manufacture in Taiwan, not China, and our printer (as well as us) are personally very proud of their manufacturing quality.

Is it possible to purchase 2/3 copies? Or add on 1 copy of Mooncake Master?

All backers will be sent a BackerKit survey at the end of the campaign. This survey will allow you to customize your order as you see fit, adding any amount of games or products to your heart’s desire. There will also be products available for purchase that are not available during this campaign.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
